NTT America Introduces IPSec-Based IP-VPN Service for Multinational Corporations to Enhance Asia-Pacific VPN Coverage

The services provide easy and economical VPN access to small overseas branches and remote users

NEW YORK, NY - NTT America, Inc., a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications, the international and long distance service arm of the largest telecommunications company in the world: Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, today announced a new hardware- and software-based IPSec access services to support multinational corporations with operations in Asia Pacific regions. Using IPSec tunneling for secure communication through NTT Communications' Internet access gateway hub in Tokyo, the services supplement NTT's existing MPLS-based IP-VPN offerings for extended coverage.

With the VPN client software downloaded from the designated URL, the software-based Arcstar IPSec access service allows end-user terminals of remote locations to communicate in a closed network environment with any clients on the subscriber's Arcstar Global IP-VPN. The service supports both dialup access for mobile users and dedicated access for users at fixed locations. End users will have a fixed password or a one-time password for user authentication. The hardware-based IPSec access service is to be combined with the IPSec Access Package that includes dedicated Internet access service, CPE configuration service, and VPN CPE maintenance.

"Convenience, security, and price are all important aspects for businesses when building a network. However, finding a solution that satisfies them all at once has not been an easy task," said David Ryan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NTT America. "Our IPSec access service is our response to satisfy such needs of multinational corporations, providing their small overseas offices and off-site staff with the same advantage of IP-VPN at an affordable cost. This will allow a U.S. based multinational, for example, to easily extend the company's existing IP-VPN coverage in Asia-Pacific area without any major facility build out."
