NTT America Sponsors and Speaks at Capacity LATAM 2010

Capacity LATAM 2010 is Capacity magazine’s 7th annual Latin American wholesale telecommunications congress for carriers and service providers across Latin America and internationally. NTT Communications is the gold sponsor of the event and will host a lunch and opportunity to network on March 9.

Who: Michael Wheeler, vice president of Global IP Network, NTT America, joins executives on the panel, “Strategies to Capitalize on the Growth of Rich-Media Content: Capacity Planning and Service Delivery,” on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 11:40 a.m. During the panel, executives will assess the changing requirements of the end-user in the content space, specifically key services and applications driving demand and demand for interactive content. They will discuss issues such as content availability on diverse platforms, the capacity planning to meet demand for rich media content and bandwidth requirements to support extensive growth in the region. The role of data centers in hosting content including the speed, quality of service (QoS) and reliability of content delivery and whether there is a need for local data centers will also be examined. In addition, the panelists will address effectively delivering content based services and monetizing the network, as well as new opportunities for content companies and wholesalers. The impact of both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games on generating opportunities for the content market, such as the vital preparations to cope with increased demand for services and technology investments needed to facilitate the delivery of services at a local level will be evaluated as well.

Shuichi Ikeda, vice president of sales and business development, Global IP Network, NTT America, joins analysts and executives on the panel, “The Internet Boom: Delivering Broadband Across Latin America,” on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:10 p.m. The panel will assess the growth of the Internet in the region and how broadband Internet penetration is evolving by examining how government initiatives are facilitating Internet connectivity in rural communities and metro markets and evaluating how carriers handle increased demand for Internet penetration, specifically in regard to capacity requirements, pricing strategies and overcoming taxation and legal hurdles. They will also analyze the selection of optimal access technologies needed to deliver broadband and investigate whether providers will begin integrating IPTV into their service portfolios.
