NTT America Recognized for Leadership, Green Initiatives and CSR Activities
New York, NY – July 30, 2012 – NTT America, a global IT infrastructure services provider and wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), today announced recognition for several important areas of the business, including the company’s executive leadership team, broad energy efficiency initiatives, and activities undertaken in support of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. NTT America is the largest oversees affiliate of NTT Communications Corporation, the global cloud services provider and wholly owned subsidiary of NTT. NTT’s financial performance has recently been acknowledged by Fortune, an influential biweekly global business magazine, and Gartner, a leading industry analyst firm.
NTT America leverages the financial assets, significant research and development investments, global coverage and comprehensive ICT service and solutions portfolio of NTT, as well as relationships with NTT family companies Dimension Data, NTT DATA and Integralis, to holistically support enterprise business lifecycles.
In recognition of outstanding leadership, NTT America’s President and CEO, Mr. Kazuhiro Gomi, has been appointed to the board of directors of NTT Communications Corporation. The youngest member of the board, he took office immediately following his approval at the NTT Com Thirteenth Annual Shareholders’ Meeting held in Tokyo, Japan, June 15, 2012. Mr. Gomi remains at the helm of NTT America, continuing in his role as CEO, a position he has held for two years. He is responsible for the direction and leadership of NTT America’s mission, strategy, annual goals and objectives, as well as for fostering a culture of success.
Fortune Global 500: Fortune identified NTT as the largest telecommunications company in the world in terms of revenue on this year’s Fortune Global 500 list, released July 23, 2012. NTT is now ranked 29th on Fortune’s annual rankings of the world’s largest corporations, moving up from 31st place on the 2011 list. Sixty-eight Fortune Global 500 companies, including NTT, are headquartered in Japan; following the United States and China, Japan has the third highest number of Fortune Global 500 companies in the world.
Gartner: On April 26, 2012, Gartner released the firm’s Market Share Analysis: Top 30 Communications Service Provider Rankings, Worldwide, 2011.1 Gartner ranked NTT the #1 communications service provider in the world in 2011, based on telecom service revenues of the top 30 communications service providers worldwide. Commanding 7.4 percent of the global telecom services market, NTT was identified by Gartner as the worldwide market share leader in the global telecom services market in 2011.
Verdantix: In July 2012, Verdantix positioned NTT America in the lower, right Specialists’ Quadrant on the Green Quadrant® Sustainable Telecoms (US) 2012, noting the company’s strong momentum score and potential to join the Leaders’ Quadrant. The report provides a detailed, fact-based comparison of 11 sustainable telecom solutions provided by 12 of the largest telecoms service providers in the U.S. market. The report highlights NTT America’s stand out capabilities for several sustainable telecom solutions and strong corporate sustainability performance in home markets outside the US.
In May, at the seventh annual Uptime Institute Symposium in Santa Clara, California, the Uptime Institute presented NTT America together with Vigilent, provider of intelligent energy management systems, the prestigious 2012 Green Enterprise IT Award for Facility Product Deployment.
NTT America maintained a strong dedication to societal contributions in the second quarter; the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program operates within the framework of NTT Communications’ CSR initiative. In June, as part of NTT Communications’ commitment to community beautification, NTT America joined Blue Coat and Dimension Data for a day of service with City Year New York. The combined Blue Coat, Dimension Data, and NTT America teams helped City Year New York create a positive play space for students at P.S. 161 Pedro Albizu Campos, transforming a courtyard space into a gardening and play area.
NTT America also made significant monetary contributions to charitable events in support of the health and welfare of youth and children. Charitable event sponsorships included:
